April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She started the guitar and piano lessons in the 7th grade, which ignited the interest of her. April Lockhart wrote her first single, Different at the age 12 years old. As April approached 14 years old, she dedicated the majority of her time developing song ideas as well as perfecting the song. Then, she began going across NY and LA along with her dad to help them to write songs. April featured other topics in her track"Take my Hand. These topics included topics for her friends who dealt issues like peer pressure, and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal ideas. Lockhart collaborates with popular cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with her own growing following. Since she was born without a left hand, Lockhart is an important part of her. However, it's not her entire story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram account does not shy away from her disability, but it's not focused on her disability as well. It's a message. The message is that we are more than the physical person we are. The identities we have are complex and encompass a variety of aspects. Lockhart, via video message sent from her Nashville at home, claims that I don't wish for my physical appearance to define myself. I am far more than just my physical self. This doesn't influence my day-to-day activities. I carry on my business as usual and have come up with my own methods to adjust. It's also a part of me, and I believe it should be discussed. The journey of self-acceptance that Lockhart has taken is one that can last for a long time, and she is an inspiration in this regard. She admits that she has gone through periods of feeling insecure about her body and feeling uncomfortable wearing some clothing types which showed her arms. Today, she wears whatever she wants and posts photos in those outfits to social networks with a sense of pride. She says that self-love is a journey. I'm not sure when you'll reach the end. However, I believe that's the case with everyone with whatever they are struggling with. People you associate yourself with that truly understand you, and can see into your heart are the most important people who can remind you of the things you're worried about.
